W.C. “Punk” Evans was born July 1939, to Wilson and Bernice Silvers Evans in Wilson Valley near Little River, TX. This was on the same homestead his grandmother Lela Wilson Evans was born in 1874.
He has shown, raised and ridden cutting and roping horses since 1956. He farmed and ranched since 1962. He has run stocker cattle in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and Oklahoma and furnished cattle for the cutting and roping events.
W.C. was a member of NIRA (National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association) 1959-1962. As a calf roper, he was on the Rodeo Team at Southwest Texas State University. During this time he also competed in PRCA rodeos. Since 1964 he has raised King Ranch and Joe Moore bred horses which constituted AQHA membership.
He has been Commercial Steer Superintendent for the Bell County Youth Fair and PRCA Rodeo for more than 20 years. He served as co-chairman of the PRCA Rodeo for 10 years, getting it off to a good start. W. C. enjoys the Commercial Steer Class because it teaches youth the skills necessary in today’s economy, such as record keeping, feeding cattle and interviewing.
In a complex world, his faith guides him. In 1962 he married Bernice Jones Evans. They have two sons, Ed and John.
