Ronnie Tipton was born to Harlan and Bonnie Tipton on November 17, 1955 in Killeen, Texas where he lived his entire life. His roots in Bell County tie back to the 1800’s and he has great love for this area.
At a very young age, Ronnie began riding horses and discovered his passion in life. It wasn’t long before he stared breaking horses for hire and earned a whopping $25.00 per month. By the age of nine, Ronnie had joined the junior rodeo ranks by riding calves and steers. He was a member of the West Texas Junior Rodeo Association. In the early 70’s thru the mid 80’s, he competed in the amateur rodeo circuit riding bulls and roping.
Ronnie began working cattle and started the RJ Cattle Company in 1970. He became the Smith Ranch foreman form 1974 until 1979. He was known in the area for hiring out to gather stray, wild cows and haul them for area ranchers.
During this time he also started a career in plumbing and became a licensed plumber to help fund his cowboy endeavors.
His cattle company furnished roping steers for events throughout the state of Texas and he donated the use of his steers to help benefit the Central Texas Children’s Center.
He has worked cattle, roped and ridden horses his entire life. Ronnie Tipton has truly lived the cowboy life and has enjoyed every minute of it.
